About me...

If you've clicked this then I guess you're a wee bit interested in the kind of put person that comes up with a crazy idea like this. Well...

I'll make it short. I went to school on Barra, Eoligarry primary first then Castlebay. Dodged my way through secondary, and they even let me stay on for 6 years! I worked on prawn trawlers for a while, then went to Edinburgh Uni and got a Masters in Mechanical Engineering. Going to Uni was probably the best thing I've ever done! Met so many people, did so many things. Also did some river kayaking down some wee rivers and some bigger rivers - I find rivers scarier than the sea, especially when you are coming up to something and you don't know what it's going to be like (i.e. going down a few rivers in the Alps).

So now I'm back in Barra, working as a renewable energy consultant for the community company here (contract finishes at the end of April), and am looking forward to another sunny summer working as a kayaking guide, taking people on paddling holidays around the Outer Hebrides. After that, who knows...

By the way...I'm a qualified Mechanical Engineering with an MEng, and at the end of the summer will be looking for an engineering job. I have been working as a renewable energy consultant for the past 4 months in Barra, and would like to try and get a job in the renewable energy sector in the future. If you work in an engineering company and are reading this thinking this is the kind of guy we need, then please get in touch! I'm a keen and hard worker, and want to get involved in practical hands engineering.

If you have any ideas for things that we could do on the website, or if you would like to know more about the expeditions, or if you would like to get involved then please get in touch, or if you want to get in touch for any other reason please e-mail info@sustainableexpeditions.org
